Application for the DFM-Law Program
We take a lot of time to select our future students. The knowledge of two languages and fields of law is just as challenging for the participants of the DFM law program as the dense learning workload. The written application is therefore followed by a separate assessment procedure.
The law study program of the University of Cologne and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is your academic dream program? We look forward to your written application for the DFM law studies program. Please include the following documents with your application:
Proof of the place of residence | Applicants must provide proof that their place of residence is in Germany or in an EU third country (except France). If you are exceptionally unable to travel at the time of the assessment procedure (e.g. year abroad), please contact us. If your center of life is in France, the University Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne is responsible for your application (information here) |
University entrance qualification (certified copy) | For applications via e-mail, please submit the certified copy by post as soon as you have received a confirmation of a study place. For students in their final year, existing certificates from the qualification phase must be enclosed and the final certificate must be submitted immediately upon receipt. |
Curriculum vitae | Including an application photo as well as the e-mail address, telephone number and postal address. When sending the application documents by mail, it is requested to provide them in duplicate. |
Letter of motivation | The letter should normally be one and may not exceed two page(s). It must be written in German or French. |
Statement I | Indication of whether participation in the assessment procedure for course-related language skills has already taken place. A sample (in german) can be downloaded here. |
Statement II | Indication that no parallel application has been submitted to Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. A sample can be downloaded here. |
Please send your application preferably by e-mail to dfm-infouni-koeln.de, alternatively by mail to German-French Studies in Law, University of Cologne, 50923 Cologne, Germany. Please note that incomplete or out-of-time applications cannot be considered. The postmark is decisive for meeting the deadline if the application is sent by letter. The documents of unsuccessful applicants will be deleted in accordance with the data protection deadlines.
If your application documents convince us, you will be invited to take part in the assessment procedure, which takes place annually in May. In this examination, your personal knowledge and skills will be assessed and your foreign language potential will be determined. If you successfully complete the assessment procedure, you will receive an offer to participate in the DFM law program. Further information on the assessment procedure can also be found in the FAQ section.
